THE MISSION

Our stated purpose is to improve teen driver safety, through education, training, and awareness. There are some major gaps in the basic driver training that is required in order for a teen to get their drivers license. Altitude’s mission is to fill those gaps with training in the skills they need to be safer drivers, and at the same time, making the training affordable for everyone who wants it.

Why Altitude?

Altitude Driver Safety Foundation was born out of a need seen by the owner of Altitude Driving Academy after a discussion with a School Resource Officer about teen driver safety.

Altitude Driving Academy teaches advanced driving skills courses to licensed drivers, taught by police driving instructors, on a law enforcement driving track. In talking with the SRO, we realized there was a need for a similar course taught by cops, that was specifically tailored towards high school age drivers, that would teach them the skills that their basic driver training only explained in the classroom, but didn’t give them any hands-on experience with.

Accessible and affordable

The idea was to make these courses more accessible by holding them at local high schools, and more affordable than the typical courses offered by traditional driving schools.

It was determined that the best way to accomplish this was to make these high school courses available through a non-profit, that has the sole focus of teen driver safety. With that, the Altitude Driver Safety Foundation was created.

Our goal is to partner with school districts throughout Colorado, and anywhere else we can, to get this valuable training to as many young drivers as possible.
