BEHIND-THE-WHEEL

6 Hours Behind-the-Wheel

6 HOURS BEHIND-THE-WHEEL

Completing these drive times is one of the State of Colorado’s requirements for teen drivers who want to apply for their license before they are 16 years and 6 months old.

We break this down into two 3 hour drives, completed in our vehicles. The students will get a 15 minute break in the middle of each 3 hour drive, where we will go over everything taught in the first half, get advice, pointers, etc., while stretching our legs before going back at it.

If you live somewhere near any of the primary areas we serve, we will come to you for these drives, at no extra charge. If you are outside of these areas and still wish to use us, let us know. Depending on where you are, we may still come to you, or ask that you come to us, or meet half way. We’re flexible so we can make it as convenient as possible for you.

Before each drive, you will receive a text from us telling you which instructor and vehicle to expect at the scheduled time.

The behind-the-wheel curriculum is designed to cover the basics of driving, and getting a teen to the point where they are safe, and can successfully complete the driving test. All of Altitude’s driving instructors are active or retired police officers that understand what it takes to drive safely, and to avoid situations that can result in tickets or crashes.

However, there are a lot of skills that the drivers ed course talks about, but that the student doesn’t get actual hands-on behind-the-wheel experience with before getting their license, which is exactly why we also offer the 3 hour Defensive Driving & Crash Avoidance course.

Our primary service areas:

Douglas County – Castle Rock, Highlands Ranch, Lone Tree, and Parker.

Arapahoe County – Southeast Aurora, Centennial, Greenwood Village, etc.

Jefferson County – Lakewood, Littleton, and Golden.

Who needs this?

Any driver who will be under the age of 16 years and 6 months when they apply for a license must complete 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training with an instructor.
