30 Hour Drivers Ed
30 Hour Drivers Ed
30 Hour Drivers Ed
THE FIRST STEP TOWARDS A PERMIT
Completing this course meets the State of Colorado’s requirement for teen drivers to take the written test and obtain their permit. It is the first step towards becoming a driver.
We are currently only offering an online course for drivers ed. We do know that some people prefer the classroom setting, and if you are really set on doing an in person class, let us know. If we get enough interest, we will make it happen.
Here’s the biggest reason we are currently only offering the class online. Because to put it bluntly, the attention span of teenagers is terrible. With most of them, if you stick them in a classroom for 8 hours, they’re going to zone out in an hour or two. Because of this, we feel it’s really hard to absorb and retain as much of the training as they need to.
The nice thing about doing an online class is that the teen can log in anytime they’re in the mood to learn. And even if they only do an hour or two here and there, and then give up for the day, at least they were completely focused for that time. In our opinion, they learn more and it shows when they’re out on the road.
I can’t count the number of times I’ve had students who did a classroom drivers ed course and yet couldn’t tell me some of the most basic things it taught. Things they needed to know to truly be safe.
How does it work?
If you register for this course, we will send you a link to log in. But before you can start the training, you need to pre-register with the DMV to get a pre-registration code.
The student will complete a bunch of lessons covering a variety of subjects, and each section will finish with a quiz to make sure they’re learning.
When they have completed the course, you will receive notification of completion, along with a certificate that you can give to the DMV. This will also be automatically forwarded to the DMV by us.
After this, the student will be eligible to take the written permit test. The cheapest and easiest way to do this is online, and the cost is only $6.50 for the first attempt. If you prefer, you can also take the test in the DMV office.
Anytime the student is working through the course and needs any help understanding something, feel free to have them reach out to us. We should be able to give them a little guidance or clarification.
Who needs this?
Anyone who will be taking the permit test and applying for a permit before their 16th birthday needs to complete a 30 hour drivers ed course.
